Our WPF Grant Program helps women in need find hope. After dropping out of high school at a young age, OUR neighbor, Beth Sutch, faced an uphill battle on her path to self-sufficiency. Wanting a better life for herself, she was introduced to the WPF Grant Program, and now she is an honors student at 51.

When Rich Sulsona heard about United Way while watching T.V. commercials during football games, he never thought he would be the recipient of the organization’s generosity. But, after he and his family were unexpectedly and quickly forced out of their rented Irvine townhome when the property’s owners decided to sell it, he became a beneficiary of the network of support offered by United Way, and an advocate for our movement to improves lives.
After relocating to Orange County from San Diego after a family tragedy, Elizabeth found herself in a new place with no idea where to turn for support. Having worked at a workforce development nonprofit for years, Elizabeth understood the hardships of getting back on the path to self-sufficiency. However, Elizabeth never imagined that she would be in need of a hand UP.
Christine is a survivor in more ways than one. She’s a shining example of what can happen when the concept of Collective Impact is put into practice to help people in our community get back on their feet and on the pathway to strength and self-sufficiency.
Getting back on the path to financial stability hasn’t been easy for our neighbor, Antonio. But with the help of the case managers at SparkPoint OC, our five-month-old financial empowerment center, he’s making progress.
